Dr. Farah Essa Zaidi

Dr. Farah Essa Zaidi, MBBS(Dow), PGDip (Canada), RDMS (USA), CRGS (Canada), MSc (UK) is the force behind the Dr. Farah Essa Academy (DFEA), a health career and skills training institute in Karachi, Pakistan.

A dedicated Physician and Clinical Educator with more than 18 years of global experience in Canada, Saudi Arabia & Pakistan in practice and training of Advanced and High Risk Ultrasound, Dr. Farah Essa founded DFEA to bring about a paradigm shift in the quality of healthcare in Pakistan by providing quality education & developing skilled healthcare resources in the country & globally.

A champion of women empowerment and women rights, Dr. Farah Essa believes that women from every strata of the society should be empowered to make their own choices and develop their sense of self worth. The only way to make headway in this field, she feels is to work extensively on their education, awareness, literacy and skill-based training.

As one of the active workers in this field, she believes that education is one of the most important means of empowering women. It arms them with confidence and resources to be impactful in the improvement of their political, social, economic and health status. She actively supports home-based female doctors seeking to return to work, while also encouraging females to join the healthcare field and have a promising career.

Under Dr. Farah Essa’s dynamic leadership, DFEA’s mission is to educate and develop world-class, skilled healthcare professionals, with the ultimate goal to improve patient care and quality of healthcare delivery across Pakistan.

The Academy’s forte lies in inculcating sound theoretical knowledge with an emphasis on hands-on attainment of clinical competencies that are at par with international standards. Internationally and locally recognized, this stellar institute is graced with a world-class faculty. The programs offered by DFEA are affiliated with the Sindh Board of Technical Education (SBTE) and Sind Medical faculty, with a track record of over 90% employability of its students.

The goal is to provide rewarding careers to its students in healthcare field through 6 – 12 month diplomas and certificates, including technical training courses in Medical Lab, X-ray as well as Ultrasound, Phlebotomy and Medical Transcription. A strong advocate of female entrepreneurship, she believes that increasing the ratio of female entrepreneurship in the society can have a profound impact on the economic growth and stability of society as a whole. Towards this end, DFEA will be playing a mother-ship role to develop the soft skills & leadership development needs of aspiring female entrepreneurs. Dr. Farah Essa is also the President of Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs (OPEN) Karachi.

Dr Farah Essa is also serving as Director Radiology at Dr. Essa Laboratory & Diagnostic Center. She is the Rotary chair of maternal & Child health and has been instrumental in revamping the diagnostic standards and enhancement of clinical diagnostic skills in the Radiology staff. She has been honored with Government of Canada’s Health Achievement award and recognized as Best Faculty by University of Toronto, Canada and Princess Nora bint Abdul Rahman University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – the biggest all-female university in the world by size and number of female students enrolled.
